Public auto insurance is the best, provided it is executed well

Posted by Ryan Baker On July - 12 - 2011

The IBC or the Insurance Bureau of Canada has been actively convincing the British Columbians since the last four years stating that the private insurance system provides the best service and would be much better than ICBC. However, there seems to be overwhelming evidence to show that when the government takes up something and does it right, the choice between private and public would become quite obvious.

Just last week Lindsay Olso had argued on behalf of the IBC and stated that the insurance rates in B.C. would actually decline if it had to come under the private system. Olson argued on behalf of Insurance Bureau of Canada but when you go through the research conducted by neutral, independent organizations such as the Consumers’ Association of Canada, the numbers given by IBC simply doesn’t add up. The CAC studies have shown how the auto insurance rates vary across the different states throughout the country even if it is the same driver driving the same vehicle holding the same driving record.

Time and again it has been seen that B.C. alo

Facts you should know about medical claims

Posted by admin On July - 7 - 2011

A general hospital in Kettering has revealed it has paid out just under $3m in medical negligence claims over the past year.

Any of the 28 incidents could have occurred at any point since 1995; however, the claims have just come to light over the previous 12 months. There are no details about the cases, but the compensation includes: $1.7 million in damages and about $1 million in costs for the hospital.

In January 2010, it was revealed that there were plans to improve the hospitals safety, and a patient’s survey conducted in 2009 showed that a main question concerning patients was if they were safe in the hands of the hospital. This led to an internal safety campaign being launched, where the main implementations were for the staff to accompany patients around the hospital where they identify any safety problems concerning them. Alabamians may soon have one more reason to get in line with the states compulsory car insurance laws after the state legislature gave its final OK on Wednesday to a bill that would set up an electronic auto insurance verification database.

The database would be continually updated with current policy information that would be matched up to their respective autos.

Alabama government entities, including law enforcement officers and the Department of Revenue, would be able to use the database to verify proof of insurance cards or to check if a vehicle is insured at the time of registration.

All motorists in Alabama are required to carry coverage for their vehicles.

Those who are caught driving without valid proof of coverage are subject to a $500 fine and can have their license suspended for a first offense, according to the states Department of Revenue.

Travelers Insurance Reports Increase in Mobile Claims-Filings

Posted by Ryan Baker On June - 25 - 2011

This week, multi-line insurance provider Travelers announced that it has seen a large increase in the number of customers utilizing its mobile offerings that allow policyholders to file claims through their smartphones.

To analyze the use of its mobile app, Travelers looked at claims filed through mobile devices over the past 16 months, comparing data from the first four months and from the last four months of that period.

The company saw that more than three times as many claims were filed via mobile apps in the first four months of 2011 when compared to the first four months of 2010.

While this is a significant jump, it likely has to do with the fact that, although the companys mobile site went live in late 2009, the online claim-reporting app was not launched until March 2010.

Of the claims filed through mobile devices during the 16-month period, the majority 70 percent were related to personal car coverage.

Our claims analysis reveals that at the time of an auto accident, it is convenient for individuals to report the claim through their mobile device so they can quickly begin the process of getting their car back to the condition it was in before the accident took place, said Travelers vice president of personal insurance marketing, Jay Gauthier.

The Travelers Group had the ninth-largest share of the U.S.

State Farm Car Insurance Quotes Increase With Multiple Violations

Posted by Justin Stewart On June - 22 - 2011

Your car insurance rates from companies like Infinity auto insurance will increase dramatically the more traffic violations you receive, according to Chris Bissell of Fox Business.  In the article Car Insurance Rates Soar as Tickets Pile Up, there is a comparison of insurance rates with no violations to those who have one, two, and three driving violations.  Violations include speeding tickets, running red lights or stop signs, DUIs or DWIs, failure to stop or yield, reckless driving, wrong way driving, illegal U-turns, running from the police, illegal passing, not using child restraints, and more.

The average premium for an insurance policy with one-car and one-driver last year was $1,119.  That rate increases 18% with just one traffic violation to $1,318.  Cheap car insurance gets even harder to find after two traffic violations, as the average car insurance paid increases 34% to $1,497.  After three traffic violations car insurance rates are 53% higher than without any traffic violations at $1,713.  The more violations that drivers have, the more likely they are to cost car insurance companies money through crashes and increased claims.  One of the best ways to get cheap car insurance from a company like Infinity auto insurance is to drive carefully and avoid traffic violations.

A DUI or DWI is the worst violation for increasing car insurance rates pretty much across the board.  But car insurance companies do put a different weight on other violations when determining car insurance rates.  State Farm car insurance quotes take many factors into consideration and may place greater importance on some traffic violations over others.  Just about anyone can get car insurance now because competition is so high among insurers, but those with multiple violations can expect to pay more regardless of who insures them.
